| At Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot
Training, we train hard but we also play hard. For good times, the people
of ENJJPT get together every year to put on a few fun events outside the
workplace. These events include celebrations, entertainment, and friendly
competitions.
The Germans at ENJJPT bring some German atmosphere and spirit to Texas each year as they host the annual Oktoberfest. The origins of Oktoberfest come from Munich, where it is a public festival dating back to 1812. German beer and Bavarian specialties attract Germans and many others from around the world. Oktoberfest lasts for 15 days and ends on the first Sunday in October. Another celebration is the Queen's Birthday Party, sponsored by the Dutch at ENJJPT. To celebrate the birthday of the Queen of the Netherlands, the Dutch host a traditional dinner with entertainment, live music, and dance. Guests include officers and families of the Euro-NATO program as well as guests from the local community and 82d Training Wing. The ENJJPT Theater Play began in 1993 when Martine Leys of Belgium had an idea to bring the members of ENJJPT together to organize and perform a theater play. The following year the ENJJPT play debuted and has been an annual tradition ever since. The play's success each year is due not only to the one-of-a-kind international cast but also because proceeds are donated to local charities. If you want to see one of the most unique theater groups in the world while supporting a good cause, don't miss the next performance. Most agree that sports bring people of all kinds together in peaceful competition. This is the goal of the annual ENJJPT Olympics. Just like the worldwide games, the members of ENJJPT meet each year on the playing field, in a friendly atmosphere away from daily demands, to see who is the best. On Texas Citizenship Night, foreign students tour a local ranch, enjoy a Texas Barbeque, and earn their certificate of honorary Texas citizenship. |
