On May 28th HAP and I flew DACT against Mig-29 Fulcrums from Laage Air Base, Germany. We flew transit from Aalborg to Germany for 50 minutes and then we fought the Fulcrums overhead their base. |

Despite the simple and old cockpit layout the Mig-29 at Laage turned out to be a very good fighter in the visual arena due to their HMD (helmet mounted display) and IRCS (Infra Red Cuing System). |

The switches in the Fulcrum is hard to operate and it does take a lot of switch actions to operate different system - not like the F-16 that is designed "hand-on" stick and throttle. |

Two fuel to noise converters. |

This jet was very nicely painted in the German colors. |

The landing gear is designed to operate off strips with lots of dirt and foreign objects. |

Aber doch... |

The centerline tank extends the very limited endurance but also restricts the aircraft to 4.0 G until it is empty - which "fortunately" happens very quick. |

|

An awesome aircraft. |

Ready for take-off at Laage again. This time we took off together and flew a lot of dogfight right overhead Laage. When the Fulcrums had to RTB due to fuel we flew back to Denmark (app. 45 minutes transit). We had enough fuel to fly 15 minutes of low-level before landing at Aalborg Air Base. |

Fulcrum formation take-off. |

HAP in VIC-formation with the Fulcrums. |

The German Fulcrums will be outphased in 2004. Laage is the first base to receive the Eurofighter and they already have IP trained on the jet. |

Smoking jus a bit. |

Thanks for the training - it was great !!! |
